Dorothy Weber, long time Optimist of the Optimist Club of Knoxville
and publisher of the Sunnyside, died of cancer in 2009. During her
illness, she never let the cancer take away her sense of humor and her
optimistic way of life. She was always a can do, will do person and always
ready to say "YES" to a project that would benefit the youth of
our community. During her treatment of chemotherapy,
she would always wear a funny hat and cheer anyone up with her optimism.
Dorothy's interest in hats goes back much further than her days
of chemotherapy. Glen came up with the picture on the right that
was taken when Dorothy was about 9 years old as she was
"playing grownup". Notice the high heels (just a few
sizes too large) and the cigarette. You certainly cannot miss
the "crazy hat".
Money raised from voting for your favorite hats will be used to support
the Dorothy Weber "YES" Program.
You can vote once a day through January and up to February 12 for as many hats as you
like, but remember, each vote will cost you $1.00. Add up your votes
and turn your money into Gary Sharp or club treasurer, Dave Harter. You
can also pay by credit card by clicking on the PayPal button below. |
