Know More About Your Website
During the year just ending on December 31, 2011, the Optimist Club of Knoxville website received 6,696 visits or an average of 558 visits per month. With these visitors logging on from an average of 327 different computers each month, it is safe to say most visitors were not likely members of the Optimist Club of Knoxville. Only 10% of the visitors stayed longer than 2 minutes with the other 90% simply passing through. How does this compare to how long you stay on a site, especially if you “google” the site The reason for the website is to tell what Optimists do in the community and report these activities to the public. Therefore, it is important for program chairs and club officers to take an interest in providing this information to the webmaster. The “News” box on the left side of the front page is helping to direct visitors to new information on the site. In addition to the news box, it is now easier to find all our programs under “Service Programs” link on the menu bar. Also, visitors find us through the more popular search engines. For example, did you know that if you typed Optimist The Sunny Side, on Google, we would show No. 5 in the rankings? Since our bulletin editors, Buzz and Donna sends a link in their emails directing visitors to The Sunny Side, it is one of the more popular destinations. However, there is a lot of other information on the site. One of our program chairs asked Buzz where they could find some photos of a particular program. Buzz replied, “why not try the club website“. If this is your first time here, look around and if you have any suggestions, pass them along.
